Senate Heeded Public Opinion By Rejecting Dream Act
Sunday, October 28, 2007
In June, the United States Senate kept fighting for more than a month before surrendering to public opinion on the topic of immigration. Having been burned once, the Senators were much quicker to capitulate when the Dream Act, a more limited immigration proposal, was brought up for a vote last Wednesday. The measure failed to generate enough support to even begin a formal debate.
That’s fine with most voters.
A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that only 22% of voters support the proposal introduced by Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL). I hope every Senator who voted for (and even those who voted against) the Dream Act amnesty is made aware of these poll results. Despite all the biased MSM sob stories, the bottom line is that 'we the people' -- regular middle class folk -- want our BORDERS SECURED and NO amnesty, which would only make the problem worse!
Also, these are good poll results to use in our calls against the AgJOBS amnesty -- which would be even LARGER than the Dream Act amnesty -- that is, we want our BORDERS SECURED, and NO amnesty! NO means NO !
