State official: Raid cost $4 million

The federal raid on a Butler County company that led to the arrest of 161 suspected illegal immigrants Tuesday cost $4 million, a state official told more than 40 people who met Saturday to determine how to help families affected by the raid.

Ezra Escudero, the executive director of the Columbus-based Ohio Commission on Hispanic/Latino Affairs, told the group gathered at Su Casa Hispanic Ministry Center in Carthage that he received that figure from Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland’s office.
