Temperatures can’t chill immigration opinions

HAMILTON — Despite a steady snowfall and chilly temperatures, tempers were heated Saturday at a rally outside the Butler County Jail as opposing groups squared off regarding immigration rights.

Seven members of the West Chester Tea Party Immigration Committee and the Southwest Ohio Patriots picketed peacefully outside the jail in opposition of the DREAM Act now before Congress.

The act — which stands for the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors — would allow those brought into the country illegally before the age of 16 to gain citizenship after completing some higher education or military service.
