A body was found in Chester County, about 1.2 miles south of Meadowbrook Crossing on Friday morning.

Chester County Coroner Terry Tinker said the body was found by railroad workers at 9:30 a.m. Friday. Tinker said the cause of death was head trauma.

No name was immediately released, Tinker said, because he had not been able to locate any next-of-kin. Finding relatives may be difficult because the man is believed to be an

illegal alien from Mexico.

Tinker said he found some basic identification nearby, but isn't sure it belongs to the man or is even accurate.

Sheriff Robbie Benson said another man, who was believed to have hopped a train with the man that was killed, was arrested for trespassing in Greenwood County. Benson said that man, who speaks no English, told a translator that his traveling companion fell off the train. Tinker said since that's currently all the information he has to go on, he is ruling the death accidental for the time being.

Benson said when the man fell, one of his legs was sheared off by the train.

"We can't tell if he was (dragged) for a distance or was trying to hold on," Benson said.

Given where the incident took place, Benson estimates the speed of the train to have been about 40 miles per hour.
