A Garfield man pleaded guilty in federal court to marriage fraud.
Craig Gregory Owens, 51, of Kincaid Avenue, pleaded guilty before senior U.S. District Judge Alan N. Bloch. Prosecutors said that on Oct. 10, 2003, Owens married Leticia Adriana Natera-Moreno, a citizen of Mexico, to evade immigration laws. Natera-Moreno had overstayed her tourist visa, and in March, Owens told investigators they planned to divorce after she received a "green card," prosecutors said.

Bloch scheduled sentencing for Oct. 23. Owens faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
