Today Tom Keyes, candidate for State Senate, proudly announced that Dottie and Scotty MacInnes have signed on board to be the Pembroke Town Captains.

“We were very successful in 2010 due to the efforts of Dottie and Scotty. With them once again signing on board I know that we will carry Pembroke again. I am proud to have them as members of our team,” said Keyes. “As retirees Dottie and Scotty are joining our efforts again because they know I am committed to being a fiscal watchdog for them at the State House.”

Two weeks ago, surrounded by a huge crowd of friends, family and supporters Keyes formally launched his campaign for State Senator. As our next State Senator, Keyes wants to improve our economy, restore integrity to the State House, implement Secure Communities in the Commonwealth, and fight for fiscal responsibility.

“High on my reasons for supporting Tom Keyes as our new State Senator is his ethics and his experience to apply same to both business and government. Unlike our incumbent, he will not expect we the taxpayers to keep reaching in our wallets to solve the state's problems. Double taxation on alcohol is just one of many increased taxes imposed under her watch, and during a recession. Tom Keyes will stand up for us”, said Scotty MacInnes.

Scotty MacInnes is a Boy Scout Assistant Scoutmaster, DeMolay Advisor, volunteer at the Lydia Drake Library, Outreach Chairman and founding member of the Pembroke Watershed Association, former Board of Health official and Navy Veteran.

“Pembroke can count on Tom Keyes to fight for us on Beacon Hill not the special interest groups. His priorities are our priorities,” said Dottie MacInnes. “Unfortunately, the incumbent has lost her way at the State House and she is now part of the problem. Not only has she raised taxes, but she is now mentioned in these probation department indictments. Clearly, she put her friends ahead of the people she represents.”

Dottie MacInnes is a founding member and Director of the Pembroke Watershed Association, volunteer at the Lydia Drake Library, former Council on Aging Board member, founder of the Community Preservation Committee, and member of the Cultural Council. Dottie and Scotty have lived in Pembroke for nine years.

The MacInnes’ will assist the campaign with organizing leaflet drops, phone banks, and sign stand outs, and collecting signatures.

Keyes came very close to defeating incumbent Therese Murray by earning 48% of the vote. He was out spent 10 to 1. Murray poured in $451,000 to beat Keyes’ $48,000.

Keyes, 45, has served on the Barnstable County Assembly of Delegates and as a Sandwich Selectman. He has also served on numerous boards and committees including: Water Quality Review Committee, Sandwich Economic Development Committee as liaison of the Board of Selectmen , Cemetery Commission, Assembly of Delegates Standing Committee on Economic Affairs, the 21st Century Taskforce to review the Cape Cod Commission and draft operational changes to the County Commissioners, President of the Cape Cod Selectmen and Councilors’ Association and Board of Directors, member of the Massachusetts Municipal Association’s Selectmen and Councilors’ Association, and member of the Board of Trustees of the Sandwich Glass Museum an Historical Society.

Keyes founded his private practice, Keyes Quality Systems in 1998, providing consulting and contract services in management, ethics and compliance. He and his wife, Melissa, have two daughters, Madelynn, and Julia.
