November 9, 2015 – 1,004 victims of child sexual exploitation identified, rescued by ICE in 2015
More than 1,000 victims of child sexual abuse and online exploitation were identified or rescued in fiscal year 2015, as part of child exploitation investigations conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). Full Story
November 9, 2015 – ICE announces employment authorization eligibility for certain Nepalese students
ICE announced the Secretary of Homeland Security has suspended certain regulatory requirements for F-1 nonimmigrant Nepalese students who are experiencing severe economic hardship as a direct result of the April earthquake in Nepal. Full Story
November 6, 2015 – ICE recognized for its achievements and selfless service in numerous award categories at Secretary’s Awards Ceremony

November 9, 2015 – Los Angeles Rapid Response Team conducts community outreach
On Sunday, Nov. 1, members of ICE’s HSI Los Angeles Rapid Response Team and the Mobile Command Center participated in the inaugural Prepared Peninsula Expo at the Norris Pavilion in Palos Verdes, California. The HSI Los Angeles RRT was among several law enforcement agencies represented at the expo, which attracted approximately 400 people. Full Story
November 3, 2015 – HSI Special Agent says farewell to Zento, a military working dog who once protected U.S. military personnel, offered them solace and won the Army Commendation Medal
Zento, who passed away this past summer at the age of 15, wasn’t just any dog. He was a military working dog; a German shepherd who retired from military service as a chief petty officer and earned the Army Commendation Medal for his two deployments to Afghanistan. Full Story

UK resident connected to Syrian export scheme extradited to US to face federal charges
London resident Ahmad Feras Diri, 42, recently lost his extradition fight in the U.K. He turned himself over to HSI and Department of Commerce special agents Thursday morning and pleaded not guilty at his initial appearance today in the Middle District of Pennsylvania federal court in Scranton.

Operation Family Feud nets 31 arrests for drug trafficking, firearms violations
The indictment alleges that beginning in 2008, the organization distributed heroin, crack, cocaine, marijuana, Oxycodone and Alprazolam within 1,000 feet of a real property comprising the Luis Muñoz Morales and Brisas de Cayey public housing projects and the San Tomás and Canteras wards, all in the municipality of Cayey.

ICE arrests Bayamon resident for possession of child pornography
Alexis Gabriel Rodriguez-Rivera, 26, was arrested at his place of residence in Bayamon following a federal search warrant that revealed the presence of child pornography in his computer. On Nov. 10, an HSI digital forensic agent conducted a preliminary forensic examination on Rodriguez-Rivera’s computer. The forensic examination revealed several videos of female minors of apparently five to 11 years of age engaging in sexually explicit conduct with what appeared to be adult males.

Illegal alien from Mexico sentenced in South Texas to 9 years in federal prison for human smuggling involving death
Jose Isabel Paz-Martinez, 28, was sentenced to 108 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Nelva Gonzales. Paz-Martinez pleaded guilty to the charge July 23 admitting the conspiracy resulted in the death of a young woman.

Salt Lake City man sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for possessing child pornography
Steven Seth Hansen, 36, who has a previous federal conviction for use of interstate facilities to transmit information about a minor, must also register as a sex offender, pay restitution in the case, and forfeit a phone and tablet.

Xzavion Dayshaun Ragsdale, aka “Yung Billy,” 19, formerly of Amarillo, Texas, and most recently Dallas, Texas, faces a statutory penalty of not less than 10 years and up to life in federal prison and a $250,000 fine.

According to David Pike, HSI Long Beach Special Agent and RRT Executive Officer, the RRT’s exhibition area consisted of several detailed demonstrations showcasing the proper use of breaching equipment for search and rescue, including door and wall breaches. The team also provided presentations on water purification and filtration, and conducted medical simulations to inform attendees on the proper way to administer first aid.

California man sentenced to more than 6 years on federal child pornography charges
Michael David Wilson, 32, of Delano, was sentenced by Senior United States District Judge Anthony W. Ishii. According to court documents, between September 2012 and April 2013, Wilson received and distributed more than 1,400 images and video files depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

ICE announces the Secretary of Homeland Security has suspended certain regulatory requirements for F-1 nonimmigrant Nepalese students who are experiencing severe economic hardship as a direct result of the April earthquake in Nepal. This relief applies only to students whose country of citizenship is Nepal and who were lawfully present in the United States in F-1 status on June 24, 2015, and enrolled in an institution certified by ICE’s SEVP.

West Michigan fugitives surrender after being profiled on ICE's smartphone app to locate accused child predators
Normann Pittelkow, 42, and Nicole Jacob, 35, were the latest fugitives to be profiled late last week on the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Operation Predator smartphone app, seeking public tips about at-large and unknown child predator suspects. The suspects are the targets of a federal investigation being led by ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

DEA Announces "360 Strategy" to Address Heroin, Prescription Drugs and Violent Crime
NOV 10 (PITTSBURGH)
The United States Drug Enforcement Administration today announced Pittsburgh as the pilot city for a comprehensive law enforcement and prevention "360 Strategy" to help cities dealing with a heroin and prescription drug abuse epidemic, and its associated violent crime. DEA Special Agent in Charge for the Philadelphia Division, Gary Tuggle made the announcement along with United States Attorney David J. Hickton of the Western District of Pennsylvania and several local and federal agencies and organizations working in the fields of law enforcement, pharmacology and substance abuse prevention and treatment.
