TUCSON - Border Patrol agents at the Casa Grande Station found nearly half a million dollars worth of marijuana abandoned in the desert Sunday, and also apprehended a Guatemalan man who admitted to being in a dangerous criminal gang.

While working in the West Desert Sunday, agents discovered multiple bundles of marijuana weighing 952 pounds, with an estimated street value of $476,000, according to a news release from Customs and Border Protection. The marijuana will be turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Casa Grande Station agents also apprehended a Guatemalan man for illegally entering into the United States, CBP states. Records revealed he had an extensive criminal history, and had been removed from the U.S. before. He also admitted to being a member of the Non-Stop Loco's Sueno 13 gang. He will face federal charges.
