55 illegal immigrants found in Phoenix drophouse

State and federal authorities have busted a drophouse in west Phoenix and taken 55 suspected illegal immigrants into custody.

They say at least three of the people are suspected human smugglers.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety and Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials received a tip about a possible drophouse in the 11000 block of West Roma. They busted into the home about 2 p.m. Friday and say they found 48 men and seven women inside.

Authorities say almost all of the 55 people are adults and most are from Central America and Mexico.

DPS officials say the illegal immigrants arrived at the drophouse recently. They all have been turned over to ICE officials.
