A driver from California was cited after he lost control and crashed into an Oregon trooper, who was parked at the scene of another crash with his lights on, police said.

OSP Recruit Trooper Kyle Olson was sitting in his Ford Expedition patrol vehicle on Interstate 5 with his emergency lights activated when a van lost control and slid into his SUV, police said.

The van's driver, Jose Guadallipe Lopez, from Long Beach, Calif., was cited on charges of not having a driver's license and driving without insurance.

Neither Olson nor Lopez was injured in the crash.

Northbound I-5 traffic was restricted to one lane for about an hour and a half.

A call to Marion County Jail confirms that Guadallipe Lopez is being held on multiple charges, including a pending ICE hold.
