CLACKAMAS COUNTY, Ore. – A man accused of raping a teenage girl slipped through the hands of authorities last week after a judge lowered his bail from $5 million to $1 million.

Adrian Ciornei, 59, came up with $100,000 to post bond and disappeared.

Clackamas County Detective Maurice Delehant believes Ciornei, a Romanian native, had friends or family sell off property he owned in that country to get the money.

He failed to show up for a court appearance last week.

Ciornei was supposed to be staying at a trailer in southeast Portland near 112th and Division.

He is wanted for the rape, sodomy and sexual abuse of a teenage girl known to him over the last four years.

He has a Romanian and U.S. passport. Authorities have seized both of them to prevent him from leaving the country. U.S. Marshals are also trying to find him.

Detectives called him an extreme flight risk, and they fear he may have found some way to escape back to his home country.
