Iowa--Hull man sentenced for identity theft

Hull man sentenced for identity theft
    10:40 PM

ORANGE CITY, Iowa -- A 22-year-old Hull, Iowa, man was sentenced to time served and probation for using another person's identity to work at a Rock Valley company, according to the Sioux County Attorney's Office.

According to a statement from the office, Abraham Luevano was sentenced Friday to one count of felony identify theft and two misdemeanor counts of forgery in Sioux County District Court.

The case stems from a citizen tip that Luevano was using another person's identity to work at Kooima Company in Rock Valley, Iowa.

Police determined Luevano was using a forged Social Security card that belonged to an out-of-state resident and a fraudulent Resident Alien card.

According to the statement, Luevano was originally sentenced to five years in prison and two consecutive 118-day jail sentences, but a judge suspended the prison term and gave Luevano credit for the 118 days he had already served in jail.

The judge placed Luevano on two years of probation, but U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement indicated it plans to take custody of Luevano at the end of his sentence and begin deportation proceedings.

He is not a "Hull, Iowa, man." He is an illegal alien of whatever nationality.
