Carpentersville resident's identity stolen
By Gene Haschak | Daily Herald Staff

Carpentersville police have charged a Waukegan man with felony identity theft, saying he used someone else's name and Social Security number to obtain jobs.

Andres Viveros-Zarate, 37, of 1644 Whitney St., Waukegan, was charged Thursday, police said.

A 31-year-old resident of Carpentersville recently received a notice from the Internal Revenue Service saying he owed back taxes from two jobs.

The man told police he never worked at the businesses listed in Highland Park or Waukegan. After contacting both businesses, police were given the same home address of the man who was using the Carpentersville man's name, a report said.

Police visited 1644 Whitney in Waukegan Wednesday and said Viveros-Zarate told them he bought "papers" with the information to get employment.

He told police he could not remember his earnings at either job, but it wasn't much. Police said it was $1,297.

Now he faces deportation if he either pleads guilty or is found guilty of the charge.

Viveros-Zarate was unable to post a bond of $15,000 and was taken to the Kane County jail Thursday morning.

His next court date is scheduled for April 10 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
