MANCHESTER, N.H. — People attending a Rick Perry presidential campaign event are being asked to prove they are American citizens.
Wednesday's event at Granite State Manufacturing is open to the public.
The company handles defense contracts for the federal government. A company employee sat beside a Perry staffer at the door and asked attendees whether they were citizens. People were also told that noncitizens wouldn't be admitted.
Perry's campaign said later that that was a mistake. The company also later clarified that federal regulations allow immigrants on the premises, but they must be accompanied by an escort.
The Texas governor has spent much of the campaign under fire for his immigration record, specifically his state's policy of allowing in-state college tuition for illegal immigrants.

MANCHESTER, N.H. (CBS) – People attending a Rick Perry event in Manchester, New Hampshire on Wednesday were asked if they were U.S. citizens.
Each reporter and attendee upon arrival at the Granite State Manufacturing building had their ID’s checked. The company handles defense contracts for the government.
At the event, the Texas governor toured the facility and then touted job creation in his home state. Perry put the economic blame squarely on Washington and says it’s time for change.

Perry campaign clears up citizenship check at town hall
Updated 2:07 p.m. ET
Texas Gov. Rick Perry's presidential campaign had to straighten things out at a town hall meeting in New Hampshire this morning, where attendees were mistakenly told that people who weren't U.S. citizens couldn't attend the event.
The Associated Press reports that an employee of Granite State Manufacturing in Manchester asked attendees about their citizenship, saying in its wire story that "people were told non-citizens would not be admitted." The company does defense contracting work.
Shawn O'Hagan, the company's facilities manager, says he was brought to the press area by a Perry state campaign official to tell reporters that the employee doing the entrance check was mistaken.
USA TODAY's Martha T. Moore says O'Hagan explained that it's standard practice for defense contractors to ask about citizenship. O'Hara says that is done to comply with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations, government rules dealing with exports and imports of defense-related items.
O'Hara told USA TODAY that his company requires non-U.S. citizens to be escorted by an employee in its facility. "No one would have been refused," he says.
CNN reports that journalists attending a town hall meeting for Jon Huntsman, another GOP presidential candidate, were asked not to film some areas of the Granite State Manufacturing facility that had "proprietary information."
Perry has been under fire in the race for the GOP nomination because of his stance on illegal immigration, particularly a Texas law that grants in-state tuition to some children of illegal immigrants attending the state's colleges and universities.

What should Perry have done in regard to in-state tuition for illegal aliens? Did he do this without consent of the voters?

Ron Paul in 2012.
You cannot dedicate yourself to America unless you become in every
respect and with every purpose of your will thoroughly Americans. You
cannot become thoroughly Americans if you think of yourselves in groups. President Woodrow Wilson

Why Ron Paul?
He has an F on immigration and apparently, according to his book, he agrees with Obama in the belief that the American people are Lazy and racist.

Okay, since no one wants to answer my questions, I’ll do it my damn self.
Bashing Perry for in-state tuition is absurd! If the people of Texas don’t want to live with what THEY have done then THEY need to fix it. Perry did the will of the people, if you want a President that goes against the will of the people and the rule of law, then vote for Obama, oh, but hey, Obama talks real pretty. Not!
The people of Texas wanted in-state tuition for illegal aliens; it was their choice not Perry’s. I’m sure it made sense at the time, before President Bush opened the flood gate. It’s simple really, since the citizens are forced to live with the illegals; do you want to live with somewhat educated illegals or dumba** illegals?
Our current federal government is not going to enforce our immigration laws. It does no good to arrest illegals and turn them over to ICE only to have the government release them back into the population. I do not agree with in-state tuition for illegal aliens and I hope Texas voters are working to change this destructive policy. I believe it encourages more illegal immigration. Nothing will change until we get a President with the nerve to secure the border and enforce our immigration laws.
