Democrats and Latino activists at an immigration summit Thursday urged Utahns to spurn a proposed state approach to enforcement and instead pressure Congress to enact nationwide reform.
Three Democratic congressional challengers were on the 12-member panel at the Centro Civico Mexicano event, and all called for an end to political posturing with what they consider unfair and unconstitutional state enforcement proposals. They mocked Utah’s current congressional delegation for declining an invitation to the event from the Utah Coalition of Progressives, and for failing to enact immigration reform.
