Move to allow illegal immigrants to pay in-state tuition back in budget

For the fourth straight budget, Gov. Jim Doyle has included a provision that would allow illegal immigrants who graduate from Wisconsin high schools to pay in-state tuition at University of Wisconsin institutions.

The state Legislature has stripped the item out of each budget in the past, but with a Democratic majority in both houses, advocates are hopeful it will be successful this time.

But even some Democrats say the measure faces serious problems, including the potential to conflict with a 1996 federal law. That law prohibits states from providing any higher education benefit based on residency to illegal immigrants unless they provide the same benefit to other U.S. citizens, regardless of where they live.

That could mean a student from, for instance, Montana, would pay in-state tuition at UW-Madison, said Rep. Kim Hixson, D-Whitewater, chairman of the committee on colleges and universities.

Guess where the bs stimulus and bailouts are going? Not to Americans struggling to pay the spiraling costs of a tuition for limited seats while trying to keep food on the table and a roof over their heads if they still have a damn job. For the skunks in DC to even entertain this at a time like this once again shows this g-d damn government doesn't NOT give a sh!t about struggling and suffering Americans but only for open borders and cheap labor. Sounds like Mexorado......

MY experiance is that those useing the university system (and abuseing it) are children of the RICH at least as it applys to Mexico. I know of a case where a Mexican offical rangled 2 free ride scolarships for her daughter. Hardest choice for the daughter was "school in a cold place like U of Minnesota or NC where they do a 1 year exchange program in Austrailia?"

POOR or even working class They are not.
