Justice For Immigrants Campaign to Hold Regional Convening in Ohio, March 26-28

    March 5, 2009

WASHINGTON DC (MetroCatholic) - The Justice For Immigrants (JFI) campaign of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) will hold a regional convening and training near Cincinnati, Ohio, on March 26-28. The convening, which will take place at the Kings Island Conference Center in Mason, will bring together immigration reform supporters from Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, Kentucky and Michigan to provide them with coalition building skills, advocacy tools and other materials to strengthen and grow the support base for immigration reform. It will also seek to arm advocates with updated Catholic messages and educational pieces to continue to push for comprehensive immigration reform.

“Comprehensive immigration reform remains a priority for the Catholic church. The convening in Cincinnati will provide the necessary training and educational tools for immigration reform and JFI supporters to continue to grow the grass roots base that seeks humane and compassionate changes to our nation’s immigration system,â€

my reply on the dfw link

what about the costs to hospitals, schools, and prisons for these "undocumented" people? what about the 140-150 hospitals that have closed in the American Southwest because of giving free health care to these people...

BY THE WAY. they have documents. IN THEIR OWN DAMN COUNTRY. IF your church and organization want them here, you pay all their bills, including the hospitals and schools. Im tired of my taxes going up every year because of this.

They are breaking the law from the time they walk across that border or over stay visas. They break laws by driving with no license and without insurance. They break laws by being in possession of forged or bought documents in order to lie on a work or welfare application.

If these undocumented people were not here, then the american unemployment rate would not be rising in this economic downturn. Americans would have these jobs. but because the Catholic church is more worried about filling its coffers, the church will not do anything in favor of the american people and will continue to tell the american people we have to accept these people and let them stay even though they broke the law,... SCREW THAT!

We are told in the bible to respect all laws, and illegals do not respect any laws. I mentioned four laws above that they break already. Please tell me the church doesnt think its okay to break the law..... WAIT this is the same catholic church who tried to cover up molestation cases of young boys, many years ago

as a recovering Catholic .... I can just say I am glad i am away from all of the corruption, the lies, the deceipt and fraud. The Catholic Church has become as corrupt as humanly possible or as corrupt as they will allow you to see

I would suggest the Catholic church get's their Robes dry cleaned several times before they try to jump into my wallet by Virtue of Illegal Immigrants scamming the US Taxpayer

In the mean time I will hold up the cross in front of me to Ward of the Catholic Church, protect myself with Holy Water from the Black Pope and all of his Henchmen called Cardinal's followed by the funny (with emphisis on Fun) little Wizards called Bishops

Thank you, james! I had to laugh at the word "convening" instead of meeting or holding a conference. To convene means more of calling to assemble, rather than the actual assembling. But it sounds a lot more glorious than "Catholics meeting", which is so pedestrian.

Are they tired of calling all of us "racists"?
    Or xenophobics?

    Now here is some BS:
In reality, the 1996 welfare reform bill disqualified Undocumented immigrants from nearly all means tested government programs including food stamps, housing assistance, Medicaid and Medicare-funded hospitalization
The fact that Undocumented immigrants pay taxes at all will come as news to many Americans. A stunning two thirds of Undocumented immigrants pay Medicare, Social Security and personal income taxes.

Yet, nativists like Congressman Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., have popularized the notion that illegal aliens are a colossal drain on the nation’s hospitals, schools and welfare programs — consuming services that they don’t pay for.
A lot like all the other garbage I see that these ILLEGAL ALIENS pay all these taxes but at the same time do not get any benefits from it.
