Mesa Police Chief George Gascón, citing growing concerns over possible civil unrest tied to anti-illegal immigration sweeps by Sheriff Joe Arpaio, is stepping up efforts to ensure public safety, including reaching out to clergy and the legal community for help.

Gascón told his staff in a memo Thursday that the department is developing a plan to handle potential civil unrest or demonstrations tied to sweeps by the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

While we in Arizona do have laws, it is becoming a fast 'trend' for 'law enforcement' officials to take wild subjectivity on which laws to enforce and against whom.
Arapaio is the one exception. He enforces all of the laws against everyone and that has the illegals and illegal supporters very, very mad. A massive smear campaign is going on. These groups sue the Sheriffs office with every opportunity and then cry to the people that he is fiscally irresponsible with the costs that 'his' actions have incurred in court.
I consider Police Chief George Gascón just another puppet of the Mexican government. Note that 15 people exercising their first amendment rights to protest against illegal immigration gets him all stirred up. First, he links it to Joe Arapaio which we may or may not be. And, if it is true, so what?
Second, he does his best to paint them as a wild group of red neck racists. Very unprofessional and btw racist. Third, and very dire, this man mentions citizens with guns. Not that these people had any guns on them but he felt he needed to throw that in. Of course, we all know and certainly the Mex Govt has put into practice, it is best when oppressing a people that they definitely not be given guns. So, here was an opportunity to down the second amendment.
I fear corruption of our law enforcement. Please watch carefully yours. Vote very carefully.
