1 immigration protester still in detention

EL PASO, Texas (AP) — One immigration protester remains in custody in West Texas after a group of 34 surrendered to immigration agents in September at the border with Mexico.
Three of detainees were released Friday and three others were deported last week. A total of 28 young men and women have been released on parole and are awaiting court dates while five were sent back to Mexico.
They crossed the border without immigration documents and were detained pending interviews in which asylum officers determined if they had reason to fear returning to their country according to asylum law.
All members of the group were brought to the U.S. as children but are not citizens.
They're called "dreamers" in reference to the Dream Act that would grant immigrants like them lawful status in the U.S.
