People can prove who they are in many ways. Get several Americans to verify those who have trouble with proving citizenship. People tell the story of being born: where, how, and who was present. Many Americans have been in the military. So this is a check point. And if your parents were in the military. Citizenship is not a hard issue to prove.

A trucker in the family told me that the trucking industry did an ancestry tree on him to show his history. The government can find you out fairly fast if need be.

Social Security is a check point, too. The question do you have a SS# with current name? Is an excellent checking question.
