I think Bush has gotten his use out of them. He just needed to drive us into a false economy and they helped him out by taking the money away from the middle class. There is however one problem. Bush has driven the middle class out so now there is just no one left to pay for there care. Everything does come to an end.

Maybe we should approach illegal immigration this way.

Illegal Immigrants; Why They Are Here, Why They Will Stay

What is the actual root cause of illegal immigration? You may be surprised at the answer. To avoid having to descend into the dismal science of conventional economics, we’ll apply my patented Mikeronomics and take a shortcut to the truth.

Consumer spending represents two-thirds of our domestic U.S. economy, and is responsible for some 62% of the jobs that have thus far, not gone off to China. The necessity of keeping such consumer spending whipped up to a frenzy is well up in the red zone of the alert scale for those seeking reelection. Which is all of ‘em.

And, since our economy is based on the impossible basis of ever increasing growth, the necessity of adding a few million new consumers to our buyers club from time to time becomes imperative.

Here’s the rub. The current birthrate in the U.S., minus those unfortunate souls who have recently departed this earth for the big shopping mall in the sky, doesn’t get the consumption job done.

No problem; we have the I.N.S., often thought to mean Immigration and Naturalization Service, but actually meaning Instant Necessary Shoppers, which allows approximately 1.2 million, yep million, foreign folks to join our club each and every year, legally.

However, with all things exponential (ever expanding) some years back we reached that unfortunate, but predicable, point where the birthrate and legal immigration combined just didn’t trip the trigger.

We also reached the point where the good citizens of this country were reluctant…, okay insistent, that immigration not be increased. Therefore we had a conundrum. Congress doesn’t like conundrums.

This particular problem forced our adept leaders to either tell the American people that the false economy that they have come to love and enjoy was no longer an option; OR, let a few hundred illegal immigrants sneak in each night to reinvigorate the activity at the mall.

Given the above choice and with election coming up, the decision for a person who is desperately seeking reelection becomes quite clear; never face south.

In recent times, we have noticed that nearly ALL politicians have denied the personal knowledge that 12 to 20 million illegal people were living and working in these United States. I remind you that these are the same politicians who are protecting you from terrorist’s sneaking into the country. I will also remind you that this is the same government, who with satellite telemetry, can identify a person smoking a cigarette at night in their own backyard.

Here’s my slant. If a federal or state politician says he or she didn’t know these folks were here, throw the bums out. If they did know it and didn’t tell us, throw the bums out. I recently saw a sign that said “Don’t re-elect anyone.â€

Well I don't feel bad for them. If they want sympathy from me they need to look between sh#@ and syphilis in the dictionary cause that's where they'll find it.

    paige---economics

The entire world is based on consumer spending. I am in hog heaven reading your post as I have posted similar comments here an on two other sites I frequent.

"a false economy and they helped him out by taking the money away from the middle class."
    Absolutely a false economy.

And, since our economy is based on the impossible basis of ever increasing growth
I believe almost all economies are based on the same. Isn't it amazing??? Add to that that a CEO is let go if he/she does not increase profits in both dollars and percentage, year after year. An impossible goal, ultimately, without a huge growing population. Wouldn't you think theses supposed great minds would ditch the theroies of the 18th and 19th centuires and build a new one to sustain America in the 21st century???

"Continue to imagine that in the middle of this mess, 12 to 20 million of those consumers would leave overnight, due to being deported. Politicians imagine this event occurring all the time; it’s called a hideous nightmare."
While this is so in a certain economic sense, it makes me smile.

"So what’s the answer? Should we just continue to increase population until the whole thing flies into a million pieces? Should we keep on expanding until our natural resources can no longer support us? Or should we work toward a sustainable economy that is not based on ever expanding population growth? "
Obviously not , unless you are an officerin the CofC. Hey, why should I care about America, why can't I just get mine and you damned citizens mind your business???LOL

"That picture may well represent Middle America, just a few years down the road. "

We are almost there. One thing I will say in defense of those who are bruinging us to ruin--some I know , do not have any evil intent. They are trying to build their businesses and make more money and do not see, (in one case I know, do not want to see), how their success is at the expense of the destruction of our great country.

I vote for Mikeronomics to replace our current economic plan!

    Good post Paige!!!!
