Obama's Global Tax proposal up for Senate Vote

National Ledger - Barack Obama's Global Tax Proposal Up for Senate Vote

    By Cliff Kincaid
    Feb 12, 2008

A nice-sounding bill called the "Global Poverty Act," sponsored by Democratic presidential candidate and Senator Barack Obama, is up for a Senate vote on Thursday and could result in the imposition of a global tax on the United States. The bill, which has the support of many liberal religious groups, makes levels of U.S. foreign aid spending subservient to the dictates of the United Nations.

Barack Obama's Global Tax Proposal Up for Senate Vote

Senator Joe Biden, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has not endorsed either Senator Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton in the presidential race. But on Thursday, February 14, he is trying to rush Obama’s “Global Poverty Actâ€

And the only way to raise that kind of money, Sachs has written, is through a global tax, preferably on carbon-emitting fossil fuels.
Anywhere from 35 cents to a dollar a gallon tax has been tossed around. They are using the "carbon" scam as method to make people more readily accept the taxes. Make them think they are actually doing something.

This is disgusting, sickening and angers me to the depths of my soul. Obama wants us to support the world. I wonder how they intend to eliminate poverty. Most of the money always winds up in some dictator hands and in the UN coffers. I remember reading that the best thing we could do was cut-off or drastically reduce foreign aid to Africa. They have become welfare dependent. The article showed how the aid was a DISincentive to work or develop independence.

This clearly shows the intention of a UN lead world govt with the U.S. being the Treasury from which they suck the money!

Third world countries need less aid, look at Mexico and how much money we give them. It makes them refuse to take responsibility for their people and government. They just continue to keep their hands out wanting more and more instead of working for it. The USA has 280 million citizens, an est. 20 million are here illegally so within the USA there are 300 million. 280 million people cannot be expected to support and care for billions of people. We can set an example but we cannot be forced to take responisbility for the rest of the world. It's not right and it isn't fair especially when most everyone besides Britain has basically abandoned the war on terror. Who has our best interest at heart? Every country is in it for themselves and once China is the world supper power everyone will flock to them but still we will be expected to continue giving aid and handouts at our citizens expense.

I called my Senator's office and the aid knew nothing about a s.2433 or a Global Tax Proposal. Will have to check his website. I told the aid to relay to my senator to just say no to any gun control measures.

In my interpretation of this Obama bill the US gives away its sovereignty by allowing another power to tax us and attacks our Constitution--our second amendment rights to bear arms.

This bill would make us fund nations that are 'unfriendly' and enemies of the US.
