L.A. shouldn’t get in way of Trump immigration plan

Re “Street vending ban’s criminal penalties may be removed” (Feb. 1):


I have no problem having the criminal penalties removed from legal immigrant vendors who sell their wares on Los Angeles sidewalks.


The article stated that this was being done to prevent vendors from being deported under the Trump administration.


President Trump isn’t proposing to deport legal immigrants. He wants to deport illegal immigrants. The article fails to make that fact.


What gives Councilman Joe Buscaino and the City Council the right to break the law related to illegal immigration? California politicians have done so repeatedly when it comes to illegal immigrants.




If you are an illegal immigrant in Mexico, you go to jail. If you are an illegal immigrant in California, you can get a driver’s license, an education and medical and other benefits paid for by California taxpayers.


What about the immigrants waiting for approval of their legal immigration status? Are the politicians helping them? I think not.
