A suspect in a recent rape was caught four days ago while allegedly attempting to buy a plane ticket to Central America, Prince William County said today.

Police arrested 28-year-old Mario Alexander Paramo, of 13188 Putnam Circle in Woodbridge, at Dulles International Airport and charged him with rape and abduction with intent to defile, said Officer Erika Hernandez, police spokeswoman.

According to police, a 34-year-old Woodbridge woman reported that she met with Paramo at a park early Saturday morning.

The two talked for a little while, Hernandez said, but the woman tried to get out of her car when he allegedly began to touch her inappropriately.

Police said Paramo dragged her back into the car, punched her in the face and sexually assaulted her.

The native of Nicaragua is accused of then driving the woman to and unknown location and leaving, Hernandez said.

Paramo had overstayed his visa, Hernandez said, adding that police have notified U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

He is being held without bond pending an April 6 court date.
