Top Mexican official calls US border wall a 'hostile' act
Top Mexican official calls US border wall a 'hostile' act

FILE - In this March 29, 2017 file photo, a youth looks at a new, taller fence being built along U.S.-Mexico border, replacing the shorter,
gray metal fence in front of it, in the Anapra neighborhood of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, across the border from Sunland Park, New Mexico.
Mexico's Foreign Secretary Luis Videgaray said Tuesday, April 25, 2017 that U.S. President Donald Trump's plan to build a border wall is
an "unfriendly, hostile" act.
MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico's foreign relations secretary called U.S. President Donald Trump's plan to build a border wall an "unfriendly, hostile" act, adding Tuesday that it is a "bad idea" that will not accomplish anything.
And while Trump has repeatedly asserted that he will get the U.S.'s neighbor to pay for building the wall, Foreign Secretary Luis Videgaray repeated in a meeting with legislators that Mexico's won't pay a cent for it.
Trump had requested that Congress provide U.S. funds to begin the wall, but he signaled Monday that he would not insist on it, saying he might be willing to wait until September for the funding.
Videgaray also said Mexico's government would consider reducing security cooperation with the United States if talks on immigration and trade issues don't go well.
"If the negotiation on other themes — immigration, the border, trade — isn't satisfactory to Mexico's interests, we will have to review our existing cooperation," Videgaray said. "This would be especially in the security areas ... and that involves the national immigration agency, the federal police and of course, the armed forces."
Mexico at present cooperates with the United States in fighting drug cartels and other forms of transnational crime.
Videgaray also said the Mexican government was considering charging a fee for Americans entering the country, though he didn't fully describe the idea or say to whom it might apply.
Asked by a legislator whether Mexico had considered imposing visa requirements for Americans, he answered: "We could explore — not necessarily a visa, that could impede a lot of people from coming to Mexico — but we could perhaps (have) a fee associated with entry. This is something that I'm sure will be part of our discussion, and I believe we can find points of agreement."

I find Mexico to be a hostile country. They are a cartel mentality. They have no respect for anyone but themselves. They steal jobs and investment through NAFTA, they steal jobs and money supply through illegal immigration, their citizens disrupt our domestic tranquility marching and protesting in our streets attacking our government, their citizens rape and kill our citizens, their citizens run illegal drugs and buy up our politicians for protection and interfere with our democracy.
I've lost all respect for the Mexican people because of how they behave in our country and what their government has conspired to do to ours. They are not a friendly nation to the United States and probably truth be told never have been.Last edited by Judy; 04-26-2017 at 11:54 AM.

Border wall talk leads top Mexican official to float American entry fee
Published April 26, 2017
A top Mexican official on Tuesday said that Mexico may consider charging a fee for Americans entering the country in what could be seen as a retaliation to President Trump's call for a border wall.
Foreign Secretary Luis Videgaray, in a meeting with Mexico's top legislators, called Trump's plan an "unfriendly, hostile" act, and called on his colleagues to consider the entry fee.
"We could explore — not necessarily a visa, that could impede a lot of people from coming to Mexico — but we could perhaps (have) a fee associated with entry,” Videgaray said. “This is something that I'm sure will be part of our discussion, and I believe we can find points of agreement."
Videgaray went on to say that Mexico would not pay a cent toward the wall. He said if talks between the U.S. and Mexico fail to satisfy both countries, the Mexican government would consider reducing security cooperation.
"If the negotiation on other themes — immigration, the border, trade — isn't satisfactory to Mexico's interests, we will have to review our existing cooperation," Videgaray said. "This would be especially in the security areas ... and that involves the national immigration agency, the federal police and of course, the armed forces."
Trump has asked Congress to include a down payment on the wall in the spending bill but because of scrutiny from both sides, President Trump announced Monday that he’d be willing to wait until September to revisit the issue of funding; however, his stance on Mexico’s role in paying for the wall hasn’t changed.

I have no problem at all with Americans paying an "entry fee". Sounds like a great idea we should consider for our own country. After all, we're $20 trillion in debt solely because of trade and immigration policies that suck foreign people in and our jobs and money out. That's bankruptcy policy for the United States, a mathematical certainty, and it has to end now.

Mexico's foreign relations secretary can go suck an egg. Although the word "egg" wasn't the exact word I wanted to use.
