Mexican Consulate donates books

CHEYENNE - The Mexican Consulate General in Denver donated 6,200 books to Wyoming grade schools to help students studying Spanish as a second language as well as students whose primary language is Spanish and who are still mastering the English language.

The books include reference materials and math, science and geography textbooks. They will be used in kindergarten through sixth grade.

"We want to ensure students have the greatest opportunity possible to excel at learning our language, and we believe this donation will help," said Juan Marcos Gutierrez, the Mexican consul general who presented the books on Friday to the Wyoming Department of Education.
