N.C.: City looks to dam immigration
City looks to dam immigration
Mumpower decries 'flood' of migrants

ASHEVILLE — Asheville will look at taking on immigration enforcement, including giving police broader powers to identify illegal immigrants and begin deportation proceedings.
The move came at the urging of Councilman Carl Mumpower. Mumpower has also proposed having officers enforce all federal immigration laws, establishing fines for use of fake identification cards and investigating practices of day-labor companies.
Council members also asked that the city put a link on the its Web site so employers could take part in a voluntary federal program to prevent hiring of undocumented workers.
Mumpower said police arrest people with no identification for offenses such as driving while intoxicated, but no punishment is given because officers and magistrates are unable to identify them.
He called illegal immigration a form of terrorism, adding, “we’ve gone from a nourishing rain with immigration to a flood.â€Support our FIGHT AGAINST illegal immigration & Amnesty by joining our E-mail Alerts at https://eepurl.com/cktGTn

Fellow Alipacers: Please show your support for these efforts by emailing those who are struggling to implement measures to stop the flow of illegals. We can send emails directly to them or, if available, post comments to the news site from which the story was copied. It must be a daunting experience to see and hear all the opposition to their actions. They need to know that there are millions of us who appreciate their willingness, and the sacrifices they make, to be in the forefront.

I am glad to see that maybe they are getting tired of all these illegals finally and I hope they follow up on doing something. I read the paper here in Asheville and was real proud of them for trying. I also pulled up messages from people on topix and I agreed with most of them. About one month ago I read where a teacher at Enka H.S. was killed by 4 illegals. Then I read where a church was going to help fund the families and send them home to Mexico to be buried. I never read whether any church helped the family of the victim. For some reason it was hushed up and never heard from again. I wonder what happened. Seeing this today gives us a little hope something will be done.[/b]
