Border Patrol agents stopped to investigate a couple from Piedras Negras (Mexico), suspected of smuggling undocumented people, although until yesterday no charges have been presented against them.

Sources from the Consulate of Mexico in Eagle Pass identified the persons under arrest as Enrique Hernández Jackson and Algeria Patiño Aguilar, the first is a judge for the Public Security Police Department of Piedras Negras.

According to the information brought to light Hernández Jackson and Patiño Aguilar were transporting four people that abandoned the vehicle in which they travelled and ran to the hill upon arriving at a checkpoint on highway 277, originating in Carrizo Springs.

The authorities brought to light that the couple came in the direction of Eagle Pass and upon arriving at the check point Border Patrol agents requested an inspection of the vehicle, which caused the four companions to flee.

The couple was taken to the station in Eagle Pass, where they were investigated for suspecion of smuggling undocumented people, although no charges had been presented against them.

It is expected that the couple recovered their liberty, although the case could remain open in order to continue the investigation.
