Kyl Asked to Abandon Immigration Bill

Hundreds of Arizona Republicans, including 26 state lawmakers and Sheriff Joe Arpaio, have signed a letter asking Senator Jon Kyl to abandon his federal immigration reform bill.

Mesa Senator Karen Johnson hand-delivered the letter to Kyl's Camelback Road office.

"I'm concerned and I'm disappointed," Johnson said. "I would hope he would open up his heart and his mind to what his constituents would really like to have him be doing."

Johnson said we shouldn't be making new immigration laws, when we don't enforce the ones we have.

Johnson disputes reports that protest calls to the senator are declining.

"People are calling my office and other offices saying 'We are trying to call Senator Kyl's office but his voice mail is full. We can never get through,'" Johnson said. "How could they tell that the calls have died down?"

The letter calls on Kyl to "put our nation and its security first" and to "oppose illegal alien amnesty in all forms."

Johnson said the public does not want the immigration bill Kyl is supporting.

The letter was signed by hundreds of Republican activists, including 26 state lawmakers and Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

A Kyl staff member accepted the letter, but declined to comment.

He's feeling the heat!! This is good news!

I have tried calling Kyl's office both in Washington and Phoenix several times this week...and have not gotten through because his voice mail is full, as well. So where does Kyl get off stating on Lou Dobbs yesterday that opposition is waning?????? Empty your damn voice mail box, Senator Kyl so we can get through!!!!!!!!!

Same here zee. I can never get through to his office. The same with Diane Feinstein. I have never gotten through... they always say the lines are busy which I hope is a good thing.

Seems I heard somewhere Kyl had some kind of firewall set up so he couldn't get any more emails or calls.

I am going to send him a large campaign check............................

I am glad to hear that our government in Arizona is calling him on this bill. I have been at wits in wondering what the heck Kyl is thinking of iincluding felons, gang bangers and absconders. They seem so concerned about family unity for the illegal immigrants and noone seems to care about the families who have lost love ones to illegal immigrant criminals. I cannont believe the direction Kyl is going in and am very disappointed.

I'd like to be a mouse in Kyl's office so I could learn the truth.

That's pure BS from Kyl. I called his DC line 6/4, voice mail full.

Just called his DC line again 6/5 @ 10:28pm (pst) voice mail box still full.

Start documenting the times you tried to reach him, and then email Lou Dobbs or wherever else Kyl has not told the truth. Shame on him!!!
