Congress should defeat CAFTA

The Central American Free Trade Agreement will soon be before the Congress. It should be decisively defeated.

The North American Free Trade Agreement, its predecessor, has cost the U.S. 900,000 jobs. In addition, its tribunal has superceded rulings of our state and federal courts. In April, 2004, the largely unknown NAFTA tribunal overruled previously settled judicial proceedings in Mississippi and in Massachusetts.

CAFTA would deliver even stronger sovereignty overrides and loss of U.S. jobs.

I ask readers to write or phone the president and their senators and representatives that CAFTA should be decisively defeated.
