State Baptist Convention passes resolutions on immigration, education

TAYLORS, S.C. The South Carolina Baptist Convention passed its nearly 33 (m) million dollar budget today as well as several resolutions on matters ranging from immigration to education.
More than eleven-hundred representatives of South Carolina's two-thousand Southern Baptist churches and missions are meeting this week in Taylors. Tomorrow, they will select a new president.

The immigration resolution called for the state's Baptists to meet the needs of immigrants and asks lawmakers to pass immigration reform to protect the country's borders.

The education resolution did --not-- urge parents to take their children out of public schools. Instead, it called for parents to be involved in their children's education no matter where they go to school.
