Chep pledges crackdown on undocumented workers

(Oct. 13, 12:19 p.m.) Orlando, Fla.-based Chep USA has signed an agreement with the U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, pledging to weed out undocumented workers.

By signing the ICE Mutual Agreement between Government and Employers in September, Chep agrees to train its staff on best hiring practice and use federal government screening tools to ensure employees have legal work authorization, said director of human resources operations Thomasina Kennedy.

“We did it because it’s the right thing to do,â€

Twenty-six of how many hundreds of thousands of businesses in this country?
This is a ray of hope that needs more publcity and an effort by very cranky Americans to make sure the businesses they use are in compliance.

I would assume this is the IMAGE program, which is more than just e-verify. Lots of businesses are using e-verify. Thats why all the illegal alien lovers want it killed. http://www.ice.gov/partners/opaimage/im ... %20program

And 26 companies voluntarily enrolled in ICE's IMAGE program, begun last year, is 26 more than 0!

This is great news and I applaud CHEP for doing the right thing (will send them an e-mail)! However, why is such compliance left at the discretion of corporate America (could it be power and money = influence, a.k.a. chamber of commerce) in this country? Why isn't every business mandated to follow this "best hiring pratice?"


Making this mandatory would have a tremendous impact on reducing illegal invaders - virtually overnight in this country!

I'll be doing the same! Emailing them I mean, encouragement and praise go far just like word of mouth.

Just e-mailed Chep my congrats. And just emailed Brian Frederick with a simple question: is there an agreement that has a name that Chep signed, as the government likes to name everything, even top-secret projects. Maybe he was pulled off the avocado beat, but please do your homework!
