Statement of Sen. Sessions on Sen. Reid's Decision to Pull Immigration Bill
Thursday, June 7, 2007
WASHINGTON—U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) released the statement below after Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) pulled the immigration bill from the Senate floor, following a failed vote to limit debate:
“I’m pleased that the majority leader pulled the immigration bill from the Senate floor tonight. I think tonight's cloture vote is a result of senators hearing directly from their constituents and learning of their sincere concern about this legislation. The American people have a fundamental understanding that our immigration system should be effective and lawful, and they recognized that this bill does not achieve those goals.
“Our immigration system is comprehensively broken, and it needs to be comprehensively fixed. The best way to achieve that is through thoughtful deliberation in the traditional committee process. I look forward to further work on this extremely important issue in the future.â€

That Sen. Sessions is a great guy. I have called and explained as much to his staffers many times over that last couple months (they're probably tired of hearing from me...)
Anyway, I had a twisted but perhaps appropriate thought:
Since Sessions (and Shelby, to be honest) both held fast on doing the right thing for the American people (and the people of Alabama, specifically),
and...
both senators of Hawaii demonstrated HORRIBLE voting records on the subject.
and...
since both states vie for tourism dollars as a destination for vacationing Americans
why not...

Would like to know how many illegals are in Hawaii? they have problems and would not like it if illegals were using the few hospitals in Hawaii and flooding the ER so Hawaiians had to wait for care. In fact there are groups of Hawaiians that use the military hospitals as well as other parts of the bases.

That sounds like a great idea. Where can I get a vacation brochure?
