U.S. BORDER PATROL Weekly Blotter: (01/28/2011)

Border Patrol agents seized over 20,715 pounds of marijuana. Agents arrested eleven criminal aliens and nine gang members. There were three rocking incidents.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Paso, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for oral copulation with a minor less than 14 years of age and had been previously removed from the United States.


Havre Sector – Border Patrol agents assisted in the rescue of a subject near St. Mary’s, Montana. The subject was ill and snowed in at a remote residence. Border Patrol agents responded to the location via snowmobiles and snowcats. A Border Patrol emergency medical technician determined the subject was suffering from liver and kidney failure and requested air evacuation. The subject was transported via snowcat to a local emergency services helicopter and was airlifted to a hospital.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,078 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a United States Citizen (USC) at a traffic checkpoint near Laredo, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.


Miami Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested one male illegal alien from Mexico and one female juvenile illegal alien from Honduras near Jacksonville, Florida. The juvenile female was identified as the victim of human trafficking for the purpose of prostitution. The male subject was turned over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and prosecution for human trafficking and kidnapping.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,129 pounds of marijuana and a Ford pickup truck near El Refugio, Texas. Agents observed several subjects loading bundles of suspected narcotics into the truck near the Rio Grande River. When agents approached, the subjects abandoned the vehicle and the marijuana, and absconded into Mexico.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,632 pounds of marijuana near Menagers, Arizona. Agents discovered the marijuana while tracking a group of suspected illegal aliens. Nine subjects were arrested in the vicinity of the marijuana.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the 14th Street Norte gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested a national of Mexico at the El Paso International Airport. The subject was identified as being wanted in Mexico on charges of rape and a warrant for his arrest was confirmed with Mexican officials.


Houlton Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested a national of Angola near Houlton, Maine. Records checks revealed the subject had an active warrant of arrest for probation violation related to a conviction for 1st degree sexual intercourse with a person less than 14 years of age.


Marfa Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,143 pounds of marijuana, a Ford pickup truck, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Marfa, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana concealed in the truck.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 3,096 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Amado, Arizona. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies within the trailer. A subsequent search of the trailer revealed the marijuana concealed inside.

Buffalo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Guatemala at a bus terminal in Rochester, New York. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history, and an active warrant of arrest issued in the state of California.


El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Norteño gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near San Isidro, Texas. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13) gang. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents discovered one AK-47 rifle, three M-4 rifles, two hand grenades, magazines, ammunition, tactical gear and military uniforms abandoned near Fronton, Texas.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,767 pounds of marijuana near Ajo, Arizona. An agent observed a pickup truck traveling at a high rate of speed with its headlights off and subsequently located the vehicle after it wrecked. Two unidentified injured subjects were found near the truck and transported to a local hospital by emergency services personnel. Records checks revealed the truck had been reported stolen.

Del Rio Sector – Border Patrol agents rescued an illegal alien from Mexico near Del Rio, Texas. Agents responded to suspected illegal alien traffic and observed three subjects standing near the tool shed of an abandoned residence. As agents approached, all three subjects ran back to the Rio Grande River and began swimming towards Mexico. One of the subjects fell into distress and began shouting for help. A Border Patrol canine agent rescued the subject by pulling him to safety using a long canine leash.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,535 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Kingsville, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana concealed within a load of produce.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,163 pounds of marijuana, a Ford minivan, and arrested two illegal aliens from Mexico near McAllen, Texas. Agents observed the vehicle near the Rio Grande River and responded to investigate. As agents approached, the subjects abandoned the vehicle in a failed attempt to abscond. The marijuana was found inside the vehicle.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Cowlic, Arizona. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the MS-13 gang. Records checks revealed he had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Sasabe, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior felony conviction for lewd acts with a child under the age of 14 using force, and had been previously removed from the United States.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 6,097 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a national of Nicaragua at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies within the trailer, and a subsequent search uncovered the marijuana.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Douglas, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior felony conviction for rape of a victim under the age of 17 in the state of New York, and had been previously removed from the United States.


Yuma Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,107 pounds of marijuana and a Dodge Durango near Yuma, Arizona. Agents observed the suspected narcotics smuggling vehicle and responded to the area. Upon seeing the agents, the driver and passenger abandoned the vehicle at the international border and absconded into Mexico. The marijuana was found in the vehicle.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Compton Flats gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Falfurrias, Texas. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the MS-13 gang and records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,208 pounds of marijuana and a Dodge van near Mission, Texas. Agents observed the van near the Rio Grande River. As agents approached the area, multiple subjects absconded into Mexico. A search of the van uncovered the marijuana.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 221 pounds of marijuana, a Toyota pickup truck, and arrested two USCs near Calexico, California. Agents encountered the subjects while responding to an ultralight aircraft incursion. The subjects were encountered leaving the suspected narcotics drop zone and the marijuana was found in the truck.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,171 pounds of marijuana, a Dodge van, and arrested a USC near Brownsville, Texas. Agents observed unidentified subjects loading suspected narcotics into the van. When the van attempted to drive away it became stuck in the mud. The marijuana was discovered in the vehicle.
