Administration begins effort to welcome citizens

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush today lobbied Congress for an immigration reform bill -- as his staff offered information to help potential new Americans.

The administration launched a Web site to be a central clearinghouse of federal information that may be useful to immigrants.

The site includes a link to help immigrants find English classes and steers them to providing tips on building a resume and finding a job.

Administration officials also say they're going to try to use the site to enlist people to volunteer to assist immigrants.

The programs were launched by the New American Task Force, formed by the administration to come up with ways to help immigrants integrate into American society.
