U.S.Border Patrol Weekly Blotter: April 15 - April 21

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,204 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer and arrested a United States Citizen (USC) at the traffic checkpoint near Freer, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A search by agents revealed the marijuana.


Marfa Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Sierra Blanca, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had an active arrest warrant for probation violation in the State of North Carolina, and a prior conviction for felony trafficking in stolen identities.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested four illegal aliens from Mexico subsequent to a vehicle stop near Casa Grande, Arizona. During a search of the vehicle, agents discovered an AK-47 short-barreled rifle inside a backpack belonging to one of the aliens. Agents also recovered two magazines, one of which was loaded.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Sonoita, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for homicide in the State of California and had been previously removed from the United States.

New Orleans Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Brazil near Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Records checks revealed the subject had an active arrest warrant for bank robbery issued in the State of Massachusetts.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Falfurrias, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject was a Sureño 13 gang member and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents rescued three illegal aliens from Mexico near Cowlic, Arizona after the aliens placed a 911 distress call. One subject was suffering from severe dehydration and was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Sunizona, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject was a Sureño 13 gang member and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Guatemala near Arivaca, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had prior felony convictions for continuous sexual abuse of a child and endangering the welfare of a child in the State of Delaware. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. Record checks revealed the subject had an active arrest warrant for homicide issued in the State of California and had also been previously removed from the United States.


Marfa Sector – Border Patrol agents seized a small amount of marijuana, seven firearms, 1,733 rounds of ammunition, two pellet guns, a 2003 Subaru Wagon, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Sierra Blanca, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection, and agents observed the marijuana in plain sight. A subsequent search revealed the weapons and ammunition inside the vehicle.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. Records checks revealed the subject is a convicted sex offender in the State of California and had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,299 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a national of Trinidad and Tobago at the traffic checkpoint near Sarita, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A subsequent search revealed the narcotics inside the trailer.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico after he placed a 911 distress call near Willcox, Arizona. After an extensive search, agents encountered the subject in the desert. The subject declined medical treatment. Record checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested 15 illegal aliens from Mexico near Jacumba, California. The subjects claimed to have been kidnapped in Mexico and held for ransom at gunpoint prior to illegally crossing into the United States. The subjects stated that relatives in Mexico paid the demanded ransom to secure their release.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 35 pounds of marijuana, a 1993 Ford Ranger pick up truck, and arrested a national of Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Amado, Arizona. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A search revealed the narcotics inside the vehicle.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,305 pounds of marijuana and a1998 Chevrolet Suburban near Sullivan City, Texas. The vehicle had been abandoned near the Rio Grande River and a subsequent search revealed the marijuana inside.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,766 pounds of marijuana and a 2001 Dodge pickup truck near Pia Oik, Arizona. The vehicle was found abandoned and a subsequent search revealed the marijuana inside.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Douglas, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for child molestation in the State of Illinois and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Douglas, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13) gang member, and records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Nogales, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being an MS-13 gang member, and records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested three nationals of Mexico near Hebbronville, Texas. Agents conducted a vehicle stop, and discovered 83 pounds of marijuana, 1.90 grams of cocaine, and two loaded handguns inside the vehicle. Records checks indicated one of the weapons had been reported stolen in the State of Colorado.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized a tractor-trailer, arrested a USC and rescued nine illegal aliens from Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. The USC presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A search using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies in the trailer, and agents subsequently discovered the smuggled aliens hidden inside.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Gila Bend, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for a sexual offense against a child in the State of Washington, and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,756 pounds of marijuana near Charco, Arizona. Agents discovered an abandoned vehicle and a subsequent search revealed the marijuana inside.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 97 pounds of marijuana and a loaded .22 caliber revolver near Rio Rico, Arizona. While on routine patrol, agents encountered a suspected smuggler carrying a weapon. As the agents approached, the subject immediately dropped the weapon, abandoned the marijuana, and absconded from the scene.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Nogales, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sexual assault/sexual battery in the State of Utah, and had been previously removed from the United States.
