Police request extra training

At least one ended up in Huntsville, Alabama. 31-year-old Benito Albarran is charged with shooting and killing Huntsville police officer Daniel Golden. Now, police Chief Rex Reynolds is asking the immigration and customs agency to train some of his officers in immigration law. Reynolds says his request is not a knee-jerk reaction to the events of August 29th, 2005, that it was in the works long before the death of officer Daniel Golden.

"I think in a big enough city and a big enough police department that I'm just trying to be proactive as chief and get ahead of this issue, and that I perceive to be a problem is the influx of illegal immigrants and we've got to have the training to address that,"

21 Alabama state troopers are already trained in immigration law. They have the power to make immigration and customs arrests.
