FALCON LAKE - Today marks the six-month anniversary of the murder of David Hartley.

The McAllen man reportedly shot and killed by suspected drug cartel members while jet-skiing on Falcon Lake. His wife Tiffany survived the attack. She's since moved to her native Colorado.

Today Tiffany marked the anniversary of her husband's murder by holding a rally outside the Colorado state capitol. David Hartley's body was never recovered and no arrests have been made. Hartley wants US authorities to add more pressure on US officials to find her husband's killers.

"The next six months from here, we're going to continue fighting. We're not going to give up on David nor the other Americans that are in our situation," said Tiffany.

The case file for David Hartley's murder investigation sits on the Zapata County sheriff's desk. It contains witness statements, evidence, photos and potential suspects.

"We have obtained more witnesses. they're coming forward saying, i think i was there, i heard this. they're providing more information," said Zapata County Sheriff Sigifredo Gonzalez.

Sheriff Gonzalez wants to keep the case from going cold. Investigators have already identified some of the men suspected of attacking the couple.

"We have two for sure of the seven or eight that were involved. Maybe four," said the sheriff.

The sheriff knows finding more answers will take time. He says Mexican officials have the lead in the investigation right now. New information from across the border is rare.

All Gonzalez can do is wait and warn the people on this side of the border.

A new warning for fishermen and boaters sits at the edge of the lake. The sign warns of the dangers in Mexico.

Rey Buruato knows the seriousness of the dangers in Mexico. He stays on the US side of the lake where he feels protected.

"There was a time when there was a little bit of worrying. Now it's all gone," said Buruato

Life seems to be moving on for most people here, however for Tiffany Hartley the pain that began on the lake six months ago remains.
