Lou Dobbs Tonight
Friday, March 7, 2008

In a speech today, President Bush maintained his sunny outlook
on the U.S. economy. He acknowledged that there were problems
but said they had been identified early and seemed to promise
that an economic stimulus package would be a cure-all.

We’ll have that story, and the latest from the campaign trail.
Plus:

* The subprime mortgage crisis has erased billions of dollars
of shareholder equity and forced millions of homeowners into
foreclosure. But the CEOs of the companies behind this mess?
Their salaries are in the hundreds of million—more than ever
before.

* Good paying jobs in construction and manufacturing are being
cut by the thousands. Where jobs are surviving, they are
receiving much lower wages. We’ll have the story of one
struggling worker following today’s bleak statistics on the
labor market.

* The Air Force announced last week that it would award a
contract worth up to $100 billion to the European consortium
that builds Airbus aircraft, snubbing Boeing, an American
company. Critics wonder why the contract was awarded to EADS
when the U.S. has filed a formal trade complaint with the WTO
against its Airbus division.

* In our weekly tribute to the men and women who serve our
nation in uniform, we’ll have the story of retired Navy Seal
Marcus Lutrell. Lutrell was on a mission to kill a Taliban
leader in Afghanistan when his team was surrounded by enemy
fighters. Of the original four men and a 19-person rescue team,
Lutrell was the only survivor.
