President Barack Obama is postponing a key meeting with immigration reform stakeholders because of a scheduling conflict.
The meeting with top lawmakers and advocacy groups was originally set for June 8 but is now being rescheduled for June 17. A White House spokesman said the postponement is because of the president’s travel schedule.
Details of the meeting remain unclear, including who will be invited or what stakeholders expect to come from it.
“The president is inviting a small group of bipartisan Senate and House leaders on the immigration issue to the White House for a meeting to have an honest discussion of the issues, identify areas of agreement, and areas where we still have work to do,â€Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Bush did the same thing in his last attempt to push amnesty, except he went after some Senate Republicans that had voted against a previous amnesty (with the exception of Sen. Dorgan and Sen. Byrd, Democrats don't need convinced to support amnesty). Remember, Bush convinced Sen. Kyle (R-AZ), Sen. Lott (R-MS), and Sen. Cornyn (R-TX) to join his amnesty team (Cornyn ended up walking out on the team before the plan reached the Senate floor). Folks like Sen. Graham and Sen. McCain didn't need converted.
It's possible I'm missing the mark on the purpose of the meeting. However, the fact that some of the most resolute amnesty supporters are not invited makes me think I could be right. Unfortunately, the lack of transparency in our government frequently forces us into a guessing game."The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" ** Edmund Burke**
