Several law enforcement agencies arrested a trio of Binghamton residents from France on immigration charges, according to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office.

Jean Carty, 39; Jules Carty, 40; and Rosette Carty, 43, were taken into custody without incident during an early morning sweep Monday, Oct. 26, according to the sheriff’s office. The sheriff’s office Warrants Division, Immigration and Customs Enforcement Bureau, U.S. Marshals Service, Binghamton Police Bureau and state police Violent Felony Warrant Squad participated in the sweep.

The defendants, who are related, are being held pending deportation hearings in Buffalo. The immigration violations are based on criminal convictions, the sheriff’s office said.

Information on their prior convictions wasn’t immediately available.

The effort was part of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, which has area agencies work together to seek out violent fugitives.
