Pearce critics won't seek ouster of Brewer, Arpaio
Pearce critics won't seek ouster of Brewer, Arpaio
by Associated Press (November 21st, 2011 @ 1:25pm)
PHOENIX - Organizers of the drive that led a powerful Arizona politician's ouster encouraged critics of Gov. Jan Brewer and Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio to harness their opposition to both officials.
But the group that organized the recall effort against then-Arizona Senate President Russell Pearce says Monday that it won't seek recalls against Brewer and Arpaio.
Instead, group president Randy Parraz says Arpaio's critics should become part of a group that will get other elected officials to voice their opposition to the sheriff.
Parraz says Brewer's critics should voice their opposition about the governor's removal of the leader of the state's redistricting commission.
Pearce was defeated on Nov. 8 by Republican Jerry Lewis.
