Local police agencies moving to enforce federal immigration laws
By BEN FOX, Associated Press Writer

(04-24) 08:12 PDT Santa Ana, Calif. (AP) --
Frustrated by illegal immigrant criminals who slip their grasp, a growing number of state and county police agencies nationwide are moving to join a federal program that enlists local officers to enforce immigration laws.
The U.S. government has already granted that authority in Florida and Alabama, and the program is under consideration in Connecticut, Oklahoma and Arkansas.
To the dismay of immigrant advocates, it's also in the works in Southern California â€â€"This country has lost control of its borders. And no country can sustain that kind of position." .... Ronald Reagan

Really?
Nativo Lopez, president of the Mexican-American Political Association, said his group and others plan to protest by urging people not to cooperate with law enforcement except in the most extreme cases.
We've already got enough criminals in this country who do not cooperate with the police, don't you think?
What a ridiculously STUPID idea by Nativo Lopez.

It's so typical.
While the rest of us understand that ILLEGAL immigration and ILLEGAL aliens are the issue at hand, KFMB (A San Diego radio and televison outlet) has mischaracterized the problem.
Describing those organiztions which support both illegal aliens, and the process of illegal immigration, as 'immigrant advocates' and 'immigrant rights groups' is part of an ongoing pattern of deception by those very groups, and the media.
Mr. Amin David states that allowing local police officers to ask questions about immigration status during local criminal investigations "will have a chilling effect on our community". Knowing that ILLEGAL immigration is the real issue here, one must ask what community he represents.
Of course, Mr. David, and others like him, make no effort to dispel the myth, common among some legal immigrants, that co-operation with law enforcement personnel subjects them to the same risk of deportation as an illegal alien. Indeed, it is in Mr. David's best interest to perpetuate that myth.
And, Mr. Nativo continues the deception. He implys that EVERY Latino in Los Angeles has benefited from thirty years of misquided policy. No, the loss is to neither Los Angeles or the Latino community. The loss is to the likes of Mr.'s David and Nativo.
