Police have received close to 1,000 tips about the Chandler serial rapist, but he remains at large, striking at will and becoming more bold in his attacks.

On Tuesday night, Chandler officers and detectives renewed their efforts to warn the public, pounding the streets to distribute fliers about a series of five sexual assaults they are linking to the same man. The crimes started a year ago, with the latest taking place last Friday.

Police spokesman Sgt. Rick Griner said authorities hope to stop him before the violence escalates and before there’s another attack.

Chandler police have been down this road before, handing out fliers on two prior occasions just days after girls were sexually assaulted. This time the fliers profile one sketch of the man, described as Hispanic, 28 to 40 years old, muscular, between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 7 inches tall. How much do you want to bet this man is an illegal alien?

Officers are hoping to generate leads and keep the man’s face in the spotlight, Griner said. Police have received 70 tips since Monday, he said.

At 5 p.m., a crowd had already formed outside a police command vehicle in a parking lot in the 800 block of West Warner Road. The area is just blocks away from the location of the latest attack — the Kon Tiki Mobile Home Park, 555 W. Warner Road. There, a 14-yearold girl was sexually assaulted while her grandparents sat outside, unaware of the crime taking place within their home.

Diana Erickson, a single mother who lives with her 13-year-old daughter a half-mile from the mobile home park, came looking for information about the attacks and self-defense.

She already locks her gates and makes sure her garage door is closed, but now said she is going to install motion sensor lights outside her home. “Being that she’s 13, I’m just so nervous,â€

This is just another racist plot targeting illegal aliens. Imagine! Racial profiling in AZ! Don't we have bigger fish to fry than a few rapes of 12-14 year old girls? The police should be busy chasing down those who want to deny illegal aliens their rights . . . the right to live where they want, the right to work where they want, and the right to play where they want - in your daughter's bedroom, if they want .

Such xenophobic nativists shouldn't be allowed to speak hate speech like "illegal aliens" anyway. Next, they will be trying to kick all Hispanics out of their home away from home, just because restrictionists don't like the behavior of one person. They're just envious of macho men who grab the gusto and take what they want. This is the 21st century. Times have changed, and ways have changed. Get used to it.

What about those police fliers? "[T]he fliers profile one sketch of the man, described as Hispanic, 28 to 40 years old, muscular, between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 7 inches tall." That description puts half the immigrants in the U.S. under suspicion! Identifying the man as Hispanic is racist profiling on the face of it. The police even call it a "profile"!

And who knows if these boyish pranks actually occurred? Maybe these adolescent girls just dreamed that they were assaulted by an Hispanic laborer type. Wishful thinking and fantasy can be more attractive than dull reality to such young impressionable minds. After all, what 12-14 year old girl wouldn't be dreaming about a 28-40 year old muscular Hispanic studmuffin?

Undoubtedly, the girls provoked the assaults . . . if there actually were assaults.
