    FOR RELEASE July 11, 2008

    Richard Viguerie:
Conservatives Deeply Depressed Over McCain Campaign

(Las Vegas, Nevada) Conservatives are so depressed over the state of the McCain campaign--particularly its failure to include and enthuse the Republican base--that they are preparing themselves for a monumental GOP defeat in November, Richard A. Viguerie, Chairman of ConservativeHQ.com, said in a speech to FreedomFest.

“You even have some conservatives who are considering voting for Barack Obama, because they fear McCain as president would destroy what’s left of the Republican brand and would finish off the conservative movement,â€

    Conservatives

I am deeply depressed about BOTH McCain and Obama and will not vote for either one. I fear the situation will get worse before it can get better.

REPUBLICANS NEED TO WAKE-UP. This country is headed toward Socialism and only true conservatives have the courage to stop it.

Deeply depressed in an understatement, however, I don't understand why a conservative would vote for Obama. Makes no sense. I'd rather vote for Chuck Baldwin or some other third party.

It's terribly depressing...I will not vote for either of them. It's just a question of which one can deliver us to socialism and the NAU... FASTER...McShame or Obamination!

The economy is facing a looming crisis as we speak...if the Gov. takes over Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (which is rumored), the economy will sink into a depression. Interest rates will soar, the dollar will drop even more, and taxes will go through the roof! I keep thinking about McShame's famous last words..."I don't know much about the economy, but...."!!!

And Obamination doesn't know anything about the economy either...his campaign promises for various entitlement programs are estimated to be over one TRILLION $$$!!!

We are on a runaway train!

Conservative Republicans have not had a leader in the White House for over twenty years! Perhaps longer, as Reagan was more moderate than conservative! Heck, even Nixon was more of a centrist when it came to domestic policy. The last true conservative might have been Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1952.

Why has it taken conservatives so long to wake up! I loved Reagan but I do believe the Immigration Reform and Control Act which gave over 3 million illegal invaders citizenship was a huge mistake! Arguably, that act has led us to where we stand today with illegal immigration. Except now it's not 3 million, it's 30 million plus! That act has proven to be a miserable failure.

Republicans want to recapture control, they had better stop trying to grant amnesty to millions of illegal invaders who are unlikely to identify and vote with the Republican party. Illegal invaders would likely believe in bigger government and more social programs to take care of their special needs. Doesn't sound like future Republicans to me!

Too bad John McCain cannot learn from past mistakes!

I heard that after his presidency, Reagan said the amnesty was his biggest regret while in office. Gave me a little bit of respect back for him on this issue. He woke up, but too little too late for America. Now we are paying dearly for it!

The convention isn't over. There's still time to come up with a real candidate that appeals to true conservatives.
