'America's Toughest Sheriff'milking immigration issue for own ego

Let's make a few things clear. We support law enforcement, crackdowns on illegal immigration and the notion that jail inmates should not be coddled. We're fine with immigration raids, speedy deportations and more cooperation between local cops and federal immigration officials, as long as everyone stays in his lane and doesn't try to do someone else's job.

Yet, along with many others, we are very troubled by what has been happening in Phoenix, because it has nothing to do with any of the above. Instead, it has to do with one man's relentless pursuit of anything that will keep his name in the newspaper or get his face on television or even help him land his own reality show. It has to do with theatrics and showboating and those who somehow confuse self-promotion with public safety. In short, it has less to do with law enforcement than with ego.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio has turned his latest publicity stunt into yet another public spectacle. Arpaio recently paraded about 200 illegal immigrants in shackles and prison stripes from the county jail to a “Tent Cityâ€

Looks like a misdirection play. I'm sure there will be more to follow and the real agenda will show itself if you read between the lines in future print.

Exactly JD! Even if Sheriff Joe is "milking" the illegal invader issue, he's doing so with this countries best interest at heart, in an effort to protect this country! Unlike other political hacks who pander and grovel at the feet of ethno-centric/special interest groups (often to the detriment of this country as a whole) in their quest for increasingly more political power!

As the article aptly pointed out, Joe would not have to do this if the Federal gov would get it's collective head out of the sand and secure our borders and enforce Federal immigration law!

Therefore, I say "milk" away JOE!

Looks like the old pretend they are with you on an issue while attacking a leader that is actually doing something about it routine.

These writers have no way to accurately just Arpaio's heart or true motivations.

And who cares why he is doing the right thing? What is important is that he is doing the right thing?

A lot of these far lefties are now aware the public does not share their radical pro amnesty and pro illegal immigration views, so they pretend they are with the public and say "I want immigration enforcement, but stay way from that person that is effective on the issue because (insert favorite unsubstantiated character attack here)

Sheriff Joe is a big boy. I'm sure he doesn't care what they say about him(as long as they spell his name correctly and get it in the paper as often as possible).
I don't care what they say about him either.

What I would like to know is their was a new prison built a couple years ago that the state could not afford to run.I saw it on a cnn report and I think it was in georgia, if it is still empty why not turn it over to the feds to hold I.A.'s untill deportation.

If only we could get more news papers and other media to sign on to more immigration raids and quick deportations.

They are lying, if they supported enforcement they would never have hired Ruben Navarette.
