Stolen Social Security Card Found

At approximately 1 p.m. Saturday, Longview Police conducted a traffic stop near the intersections of McKay Drive and West Marshall Avenue.

During the course of the stop, two subjects in the vehicle were arrested on outstanding warrants, and officers observed a Social Security card on the floorboard that had someone else’s name on it.

One of the subjects arrested, Benjamin Garneri Rojas Jr., 33 of Longview, told officers the card belonged to him and he knew the person whose name appeared on the card. Officers contacted that person and she informed them she did not know Rojas and that in fact her vehicle had been burglarized on Sept. 11, 2007 while it was parked at Cheddar’s Restaurant.

Rojas was taken to the Gregg County Jail and booked on the outstanding warrant as well as a charge of Fraudulent Use or Possession of Identifying Information (State Jail Felony). Bonds for the two charges total $5,500 and Rojas remains in jail.
