Wednesday, January 9, 2008

Lou’s new book INDEPENDENTS DAY is now on sale in bookstores
and on Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com. In Independents Day,
Lou issues a rallying cry to American citizens eager for a
change, focusing particularly on the critical issues and
challenges of the 2008 election.

Tonight, a resurging John McCain wins in New Hampshire, while
Hillary Clinton defies the polls and beats rival Barack Obama.
Up next: Michigan, independent-heavy Nevada, and South
Carolina. We’ll have complete coverage from our political team.

The City of Baltimore is suing mortgage lender Wells Fargo,
seeking to recoup the losses it will incur as foreclosures—the
result of dishonest subprime loans—sweep through Baltimore
neighborhoods. And a government agency says fully half of the
foreclosures last year involved refinanced loans, evidence that
that they were the result of brokers looking for quick fees
rather than legitimate borrowers. We’ll take a look tonight at
the fight back against dishonest lenders.

The government warns that methamphetamine-laced ecstasy is
flowing in to the United States across the Canadian border. Yet
Congress just cut $350 million dollars from the 2008 omnibus
spending bill – money that would have gone to states and local
governments to help fight drug and other violent crimes. We’ll
have that report.

Judicial Watch has obtained a U.S. Border Patrol report
summarizing border incursions by Mexican government officials.
The report describes 29 confirmed incidents involving Mexican
military or law enforcement personnel in a single year, 17 of
which involved armed Mexican government agents. Tune in for
that story.

Several states are reversing policies of granting drivers'
licenses to illegal aliens. Oregon and Michigan have already
made the move and other states may soon follow suit. We'll have
a special report
