A federal grand jury indicted a Mexico native on Dec. 27 on charges of re-entering the United States after he was arrested by the Alabaster Police Department on Nov. 27.

Francisco Gallegos-Trujillo, 20, was arrested by Alabaster police on one count of violation of court order and nine capias warrants, according to Alabaster Police Department records.

Capias warrants are issued by municipal courts in an effort to make someone comply with a court order, such as making payments or appearing for hearings.

According to U.S. Attorney Joyce White Vance, Gallegos-Trujillo was arrested in Alabaster after he was previously deported twice. According to Vance, Gallegos-Trujillo was deported to Mexico in September 2011 from Brownsville, Texas and deported again in October 2011 from Douglas, Ariz.

If convicted of the illegal re-entry charge, Gallegos-Trujillo could face up to two years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine.

The U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations division investigated the case, which was prosecuted by the U.S. attorney’s office.
