Much blame to go around
Re: "Illegal equals injustice," by Gloria Miller and "Don't grant parents citizenship," by Paula Baughman, Wednesday Letters.
I am trying to understand why people like Ms. Miller and Ms. Baughman are making it seem as if only the Mexicans are at fault for illegal immigration.
There are too many to blame, too many for someone who was lucky enough not to have to go through this to understand. Americans are the lucky ones to have just been born here without any problems, unless, of course, you are of color.
Please, do your homework and find out what will happen to our economy once we have gotten rid of the Mexicans.

Respect for Mexican laws only?
Re: "Mexicans leaving under duress – Economy, enforcement cited as consulates see sharp rise in returnees," July 5 news story.
Does anyone else see the irony of the story regarding illegal immigrants returning to Mexico?
While it appears they aren't too concerned about providing documentation or following the rule of law in this country, they are concerned enough to get documentation for their children to enter Mexican schools upon their return.
Is this because the Mexican government actually enforces its sovereignty? And, if that is the case, why do activists persist in seeing it as a crime for our borders and our laws to be enforced?
People who are here legally should have nothing to worry about, but those who skirt the law need to understand that we do have laws and that, just like in their own country, they need to be enforced.

Crocodile tears here
Pardon me. I just can't muster up the pity for the family leaving the U.S. to return to Mexico. They have lived here 10 years. During that time they used the roads, post office, parks, lakes and anything else paid for by U.S. citizens. Here, when someone uses something they have not paid for, we call that theft.
So what if all illegal immigrants return? We won't have to pay for more highways they use, larger facilities crowded by them or many other things illegals think they have a right to use.
Susie Harrison, Rockwall
I'm not sorry either
Are we supposed to feel sorry about Mexican illegal immigrants going back to Mexico? The vast majority of Americans would say no. Any person who breaks the law should feel duress.
You mentioned the American dream. My American dream, as a legal American citizen, includes a nation free of the weight of illegal immigration. Mexico is responsible for providing for its citizens. Not us.
